Integrating behavioral health care with primary care is now widely considered an effective strategy for improving outcomes for millions of Americans with mental or behavioral health conditions. Medicare created Behavioral Health Integration, or BHI, makes separate payments to physicians and non-physician practitioners for BHI services they supply to beneficiaries over a calendar month service period. 

In this video, we discuss the current rules and requirements providers should be aware of when implementing a Behavioral Health Integration program in their practice. From understanding the core elements of the program, including the various conditions that a patient must have to qualify, to determining who can bill for the program, we'll share the basic knowledge necessary to run a successful and profitable BHI program.
