The new year means an updated CPT code for Behavioral Health Integration (BHI)! Behavioral Health Integration blends mental and behavioral health services with primary care, treating the whole person to improve outcomes. In this video, we discuss everything you need to know, so that you can properly code and bill for this program.

Make sure to download a reference guide for the BHI program.

For the 2026 Final Rule, there were no changes to the BHI program, but there is that increased reimbursement rate! CMS increased reimbursement rates across the board, so it’s a great time to add BHI to your care management services.

Keep in mind that the reimbursements are based on national averages, which may vary in your area. For the exact current rate based on your location, visit the Physician Fee Schedule website.

BHI CPT Code

The BHI CPT code is 99484. It’s for 20 minutes per calendar month of non-face-to-face BHI time provided by a certified resource or higher. With the reimbursement increase this year, the current national average reimbursement is now around $57, which is up over 4 dollars from last year.

If you need help in starting or growing your BHI program, reach out to us and we’d be happy to help.
